Has anyone tried retrofitting the surround camera system to their D4? Are the parts available? Will I need a dealer to fit it at £110 per hour, or would a keen amateur mechanic with a fine selection of hammers and jemmy bars be able to have a go, whilst the words "warranty" and "voided" swam around in their head? 
I'm assuming that the touch screen controller in an HSE will have sockets ready to accept the input from the four extra cameras, and so all you'd have to do would be mount the cameras and route the cables back to the head unit. Having said that, I can see a main dealer charging a day's work to do that, assuming I could find one who is game to give it a go.
Your thoughts and words of (dis/en)couragement please. I'm suspecting the idea is not a flyer, but would be happy to hear from anyone with experience of attempting this job.

having not seen the camera system on a D4 in the flesh as of yet, I cannot say for sure, but unless the vehicle in particular has the connection inside the door from factory adding the system wouldn't be that easy.

it would probably be cheaper to get a 12v CCTV system setup with the screen put in the sunvisor or something.

Do you want it just for towing? In which case the Trailair (site sponsor - just watched the vid) looks like an elegant solution  2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +

It would be a very very expensive retrofit .... Unless you can get the module , cameras and wiring on the cheap .
I'm going to help fit one to a friends D4 when we get some time . ( well rear and front 2 to start with ) G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Just general interest rather than a specific requirement or wish to upgrade own D4.

Until recently we owned our second Range Rover Sport, 10 year model HSE and when ordered from the dealer we opted in for the surround camera system on the car.
After initially playing with the system for the 1st week or two we never ever found a real life situation to use the cameras for and as they do not record either I can't honestly think of a use for them, nice to have fitted but never used in the real world.
Save the money and don't bother to be honest.

My neighbour is having issues with his D4 camera system in that what ever side of the car is facing the sun the cameras stop working until they have cooled down. Its been very bad this last couple of days with the hot weather.
He's been to the dealers and they are stumped saying they have never seen it before...

Flack, are the problems similar to the ones encountered in the thread below - if so a new wiring loom will cure the problem - my cameras have worked fine since the new loom was fitted, even the ones facing the sun and it's been both sunny and very hot these last few days!

I'd tend to agree on the full surround system. But I'd maintain that the single reversing camera is great and definitely an option to spec on any purchase. Really useful.

Yes I had lots of issues as well, cameras replaced with no joy, new wiring overlay installed and hay presto no more issues. MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange
