Side step sourcing and fitting for D3 HSE with mudflaps |
|
I need to buy and fit side steps to my D3 as the kids are struggling to get in and out. The thing is when I look at ones for sale they either need modifying and drilling to fit the HSE and the length needs changing due to it being fitted with mud flaps.
I need someone to supply and maybe fit in the north cheshire/south Manchester area (or online). This is not a cosmetic add on but a genuine need. Therefore they must take the weight.
Thanks

Only thing that needs changing as far as I know is some small slits in the plastic sills for the brackets, not heard of any other mods needed 2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

I had genuine LR steps with LR mud flaps, no problem. Just as CFB says, the plastic sills will need holes for the brackets to be cut out of them. Or buy a set of second hand ones from somebody, and they will probably include their pre-cut plastic sills

Fitted mine myself ....and I'm normally loathe to do anything without someone clever standing behind me.....takes a leap of faith to cut the sills for the brackets, but its all marked on the back for the cuts.....no issue with mudflaps...there are a couple of awkward-ish screws that need removed from the wheel-arch area but honestly....its not too difficult.I got it done at off-road height so there is not even a clearance issue with fitting.
I did mine for exactly the same reason, the kids were struggling, but I can stand on them to get the seatbelts on their car seats, and have never once worried about the ability of the steps to take the weight... "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Ditto I fitted mine , and scratched my head and shook it fro
Side to side , when saw the cutting out involved ,but as the car was in bits on the road , and the kids were struggling
And just got on with it ... Glad I did , it cost me nothing .. Easy to do . 2008 ,hse, it does what it says .
