Engine Run in & turbo timers

Hi all,

Just wondering what the run in requirements are for new TDV6 and merits of installing a turbo timer.

Thx

Hi smwilk, there is not any great importance to run in,its up to
you.I have found with diesel engines that a good thrashing and hard work from new seems to give them more guts and torque. Not sure about turbo timer.

Hello smwilk!

The book says to run the car for 10secs for switching off, so I don't think a timer is necessary.
 Have a nice day!

Cars with an immobiliser such as the Disco3 will most likely not work with a turbo timer because when you pull out the key, the immobiliser will kill the engine immediately.

TDV6 Run In

Hi - the owner's manual says to stay under 110 km/h for the first 800km.

I suspect that varying the revs to bed the rings is the key.
