How easy is it to get a voucher(s) for the LRE?
'Senior Management' now has a Freelander 2 and I'll be swapping my Disco 3 for a Disco 4 later this year - so would hope we qualify. I did Eastnor about 7 years ago and also did lots of Camel Trophy training there in the early 90s, but Mrs Calcul@tor has never really done much off road - I'd love to take her there for the day so she could really see what these great machines are capable of.
So, do you automatically get one when you buy a new Disco?
Is a voucher for a single person, or for a couple?
Any suggestions about how to get one / a pair???
Thanks! D4 XS MY12 Galway

Feeling slightly guilty as I've already screwed a big discount out of them!
Do the vouchers cost the dealers anything - or do they get an allocation that just 'needs' to be given away? D4 XS MY12 Galway

You could always ring up Land Rover and say you are interested in buying one and would like to see how it performs off road, they will then book a test drive at a LRE centre for you but these test drives are more road biased now. I think the first one I went on was a 3 hour session but we only spent the last hour on the off road course on some very tame hills. You can pay extra to stay off road if you wish. After I had purchased my D4 I was given another voucher but I was also told when I tried to book it that I didn't qualify as you can only go on one per year so I had to book it in the name of my mate who was coming with me

Thanks for your reply.
Does the fact you were going with a mate mean the vouchers cover two people?
Any idea how much extra it is to do more off road? Last time I went, we spent the whole time in the mud - albeit nothing too challenging. D4 XS MY12 Galway

when you get to the LRE centre, just tell them you already own a D3/D4 and know how it performs on-road as youve just driven it to them. They might then just focus on the offroad course. they did for me, but that was 5 years ago Duncan

My wife got me 1 whole day , last year ,£125 so fairly cheap , but for one person. Then this year I won , well sort of, a 1/2 day for 2 people , still haven't used it , that was in jan , but they are invaluable ,they really show what all the knobs and dials are for , you'll love it . 2008 ,hse, it does what it says .

Format for the 1/2 day Experience given by Dealers is laid down by Land Rover and is supposed to last 3 hours.
The event will start with a short briefing on Land Rover technology, basic off road driving techniques and the environment. The driving element includes both on road and off road. As stated by others if you turn up in the vehicle you've booked for the Experience the instructor may forgo the on road element and do the whole thing off road.
The voucher is usually for 2 or 3 people depending on the vehicle. But the more drivers the less time you will get driving.

Many thanks for that.
Having done a reasonable amount of LRE type stuff and quite a bit more, albeit most was a while ago, not too fussed about driving too much - I'd be happy to let 'Senior Management' spend most of the time driving! D4 XS MY12 Galway
