Keeping the suspension "UP". |
|
Does anyone know where we are up to with enabling the car to stay "up" at more than 40kmh?
Maybe I have missed this? 2006 HSE TDV6 Bonatti Grey, ECB bull bar, tropical roof, LG Next G car kit, Tom Tom GPS, UHF, Mitchell Bros tow bar, Kimberley Kamper Limited Edition camper trailer and 23 foot Haines Signature half cabin (Towed separately!)

Been discussed to death - there are threads on it . Currently waiting for some sort of hardware device as the one option , the other is to cut the hight sensor rods
Here is one post dealing with it - but there are others

Chris & 10FC have a hardware solution that is apparently almost ready.
I will have a unit from them fairly soon, hopefully. If you PM 10forcash, he should be able to tell you who will be selling the unit in OZ

I wouldn't PM 10forcash right at the moment as he's running around like a madman getting everything ready for Morocco. Give it 2-3 weeks and I'm sure he'll be happy to help I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Well mines great, stays up for easy 3 weeks, I owned range rovers, and they used to drop, but that was stantard, even was written in the book, due to this self levelling, every 20 - 30 minutes. the disco doesnt do that, may be time to check for leaks, and I know how much fumn that is after the rangies.

Ah... the 'issue' at hand is a device to keep the suspension up in Off Road height at a higher speed than the 30MPH limit that LR provides.
Apparently, people in Australia, Africa etc like to drive over rough tracks faster than 30MPH (where conditions allow) in order to actually get to their destinations before it gets too dark
Also would be very useful for maintaining speed in soft sand too.

I'm in touch with some locals in melbourne who are looking at a fix for this too - might be connected with the UK - but it's getting closer, testing on D3 and RRS at the moment.
cheers,

Hi Simon_arch1: Re offroad suspension height
Am I correct in assuming that you are working towards reprogramming the ECU so that offroad height can be retained at speeds above 40-50kph?
A good overide would be if you held lever in off-road height for say 5 seconds then the ECU would allow the off-road height to be retained upto say 70kph bong and 80kph lowering - this would show that the operator has accepted responsibility for increasing the lowering speed (which LR are too scared to do).
I would prefer this type of approach, rather than having to shorten a set of control rods by 10mm and installing them before going off-road.
We have just got back from a couple of weeks towing an Ultimate off-road camper on Goog's Track and the Flinders Ranges - great trip!. I found the 40kph bong bong bong and the 50 kph lowering to be a real pain in the A , particularly on roughish high crown occasional dips type tracks that could safely be travelled at 60-70kph in off-road height. 'S' TDV6, Air suspension, Terrain Response, Active rear diff, Safari Snorkel, Opposite Lock rear wheel carrier, OL drawer system, Cargo Barrier, Dual batteries with Rotronics isolator, GME 3440 UHF. Codan NGT HF, Asus UMPC running TrackRanger. Cooper LT245/70R17 STTs when off-road. Tow Ultimate off-road camper.
