Mud Flap pricing
When the D3 first came out here you could only but rear mud flaps by the pair - even if you only needed one side! They were very dear, about $150 or more I think.
By the time I got mine LR had seen the light and they were available singly, and the first time I bought them in Aug '07 they cost $35.65
A year later (July '08) they had gone up to $38.15 - still OK
By January '10 they had dropped to $30.53, and by July last year they had further dropped to $23.17! Getting reasonable at last.
Today they have changed again - the right one has gone up to $36.17, but the left one is $73.00 - twice as much!

I got sick of cracking the rear mudflaps especially on sand so replaced with Supercheap Auto mud flaps and have worked fine since. Think they cost me about $20. Take the road less traveled. Dual battery system.ORS drawers,LR cargo Barrier.ARB Bull bar,side protection bars,Mickey Thompson ATR's 17" rims, Rear wheel carrier, radiator guard TPMS Mitchell Bros Tow Hitch LR RAI Steel Rims , GME UHF, Off Road GPS, Llams (yet to be fitted)

So cracking mud flaps is common?

What are these bigger mud guards that you speak of ?Only dead fish go with the Flow !

I will be getting rid of the standard ones. Can't afford for them to rip or break every weekend so I will look in to generic alternatives although I do like the look of the genuine ones.

I understand, Chalky, that the Australian ones extend lower by about 40mm, and this is enough, coupled with their semi rigid design to allow them to hang up on rocks and ruts, and so get cracked. They are rigid enough not to blow back in the slipstream.
