Just a bit of advice really |
|
Please be gentle guys. I have found a D4 thats not yet at the Kent dealership and I think I am in a position on the car that I think I need advice. Its a order that somebody wants to back out of and the dealership are asking if I was to be interested. The colour was on my shortlist (white), and the specification was also what I wanted (HSE).....................It was ordered with surround cameras and TV and really as I would like it except the interior trim. The problem is the price is'nt too disimilar to the 2012 and am afraid that it would be old hat before I even get it should I go ahead.
My head says no, heart says yes, but yet so undecided. Would you go for it?

If it hasn't arrived at the dealership yet, then it surely is a 2012 model? 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial
2019 Discovery 5 HSE

dont listen to what the dealer says, its all lies.
go make love to your wife, or somebody elses ifvthats easier, eat a nice juicy bacon sandwich and then sink a few pints. you know it makes sense. There's one wheel on my wagon, but i'm still rollin' along, it's the cherokee, they're after me, but I'm singing a happy song

Great advice Dick, but on the off chance that the OP hasn't decided to un-bookmark this site, I wouldn't go for the MY11 unless there was a big discount, MY12 all the way.

Hello
Have just today traded our 2009 D4 for a 2012 MY D4 - both HSEs.
Early impressions are that the 12 is a noticeable step up, gearbox and engine smother and faster, ICE/Nav/Phone much improved.
I would agree with the post above and would only entertain the 11 MY if there was a sizeable discount being offered.
Given that it is A) allegedly (on the dealer's part) a cancelled order and B) Month end C) effectively obsolete there might be a deal to be done ? FFRR Vogue SE - Waitomo
D4 XXV - Causeway
D4 HSE 255 - Sumatra
D4 HSE 245 - Stornoway
D3 S - Java

Thank you for your advice. It is and was a 2011 model and hardly any discount. The situatation was the car was offered to me due to the business of the purchasers going to the wall. The dealer offered me their car and I was to negotiate with them about the deposit paid.
It was confusing and the original owners did'nt want to give a little on what they had already paid. It was'nt the car I wanted but was thinking of immediate ownership with a little discount, alas the owners wanted the full 5k deposit they already made, and the dealer wanted their cut undiscounted too.
So have placed an order with the dealer for a 2012 model, HSE Fugi white, TV/full size spare and Trailair. Will hear from them next week on build and delivery estimates. As for the one at the dealers, it looks a little sad awaiting a owner but neither purchasers or dealer wanted to give in. Not my problem now though.
