Looks cheap enough when you look at the price of the bits...
A plasma will cost you around £140, the remotes would cost around £40 and an Allbright (although it's an 'allbright type..' would be another £25 or so, not to mention the ally fairlead - makes the actual winch part seem remarkably good value!
Might be worth a snatch block to reduce the loads on the motor, then it'll probably do you nicely.D4 Commercial - 65 Plate, 2016MY

D4 Commercial (2014MY) - gone

Before I buy this, which at that money and spec has got to be worth a punt, does anyone know if can i fit this as hidden winch with an Allisport IC fitted?

Moo, before buying that winch it may well be worth while speaking to Chris or Andy at the electric winch shop on 01274 680744.
Chris is very knowledgeable about winches and helpful.
Just because it comes 'out' of the same factory as Superwinch does not mean that the same quality of components are used.
I note that they supply Albright type solenoids, also the UHMWPE is similiar to Plasma but is not Plasma. Am sorry but personally I have a dislike of companies trading off other companies names/trademarks.
So have a few words with Chris

Thanks for the advice. I too am skeptical but at that price it's got to be wort a punt.
I'll give them a buzz.

I have seen some of the ebay el cheapos in action. Or not as the case might be.
Before spending your money ask yourself the question do you really NEED a winch?
If yes next question is do you really need a RELIABLE winch.
If all you will be doing is pay and play/green laning in convoy then you do not need a winch. You might want a winch, might be able to afford a winch but needs and wants are two different things.
If you are going somewhere where you have to be self reliant on recovery get a reliable winch.

Brendan, good points there, also if you do have a winch fitted then you always get lumbered! Steve

The problem with having a winch fitted is that you are always expected to pull other people out of the mire with your gear.
Also if you have a winch fitted, you tend to let discretion go out of the window a little bit, so you go that bit further and need to be recovered.
If weather is good it is not too bad but if it is chucking it down it can be a case of what am I doing here!!!.
Must admit we had a small international meet in Portugal, Portugese and Brits were in Defenders, the French were in various Japanese 4x4. The French were gobsmacked at where we would take the Defenders, OK nice and sunny, but they could not believe it when I used the rear winch Their motors stayed nice and clean, all silly side steps and trim stayed on but they missed out most of the good parts out!
That's why the hidden winch is best they don't know you have one so never bother you but if you need it you know it's there Home of RLD Hidden winch mounts Spare wheel Locks Trailer Body Fabrication ray@rld-tech.co.uk D3/4 sump plates MY 14 sump plates and the Discovery Sport wheel protectors Discovery 5 wheel locks
