Wintrac 4 Extreme - repairable?
Found this on the inside of the nearside rear tonight:
Another angle on the nail:
I've had a very small pressure drop and it did just about bubble with spit on it so looks like a puncture. The Wintracs I have only been on a couple of months so are pretty much brand new.
So for the tyre gurus - is this repairable or is it too close to the sidewall?Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

as said, definately repairable, but your local kwikfit type guys will say not. Ignore them and fine a major repair specialist (try the truck places)

Bummer.
Ordered a replacement today from that nice man Andy (AJS) who has them in stock for anyone tempted by Wintracs.
Hopefully the courier will pick the tyre it up today and have it at my house tomorrow. Courier cost £12.90inc for a single tyre, same day pick-up (rising to £25.50 for 4 tyres).
I'll go shopping around for a suitable repair place for the one I will be taking off.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Cheers Andy and pretty impressed with the courier - clicked on their website at 10:26 and picked up by 11:45. Pretty good service all round. Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

That’s not repairable, it’s far to close to the edge. As a rule of thumb, anything closer than 1 1/2'' is a write off. (I know, I was a tyre fitter for 3 years) You can get them sent off for repair, but it is more for HGV and agricultural tyres. It’s normally cheaper to renew light vehicle tyres.JE Remap, De-cat, Blanked EGR's, Allisport intercooler, Samco intercooler hoses, D4 rear lights, A bar, Big spot lights, Front headlight guards, 20'' Stormer wheels,

Having suffered the ignorance of the local Kwik Fit I took the tyre to a reputable tyre place. They confirmed the opinions above in that they could not do a quick repair due to the location of nail. However, on closer inspection they believe that it is repairable by a specialist company that they use.
As predicted by Stephen it will be away for about a week and the repair (if successful) will cost £25.00. For a £180 nearly new tyre it seemed a no-brainer to get it sent away for a repair. In the meantime the tyre I ordered from Andy the day before yesterday is already on the car.
Thanks to all who offered excellent advice. Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Should make a decent spare if you've not already got a Wintrac for that.
btw, heard that any tyre that's had a puncture repair takes the recommended speed rating down a notch ...
