Had my MY10 D4 (112000 miles) for just over 2 years and love it (as we all do). For about the last year I have had the dreaded yellow triangle appear on and off , more on than off, but nobody including Guy Salmon Maidstone could work out the cause!
Anyway, had a week away in sunny Chipping Norton with the caravan a couple of weeks ago, and on the last day I got the 'empty tank' (cant remember the words) message. Now I knew that I had about half a tank so was not worried, but brimmed it anyway to be sure and came home (no limp mode, no trouble). Trawled Google and here and decided that the top-of-tank loom was probably at fault so took it to my local indy (good bloke) and asked him to take out the tank and have a check.
Turns out the loom on top was fine but (Guy Salmon said) there are a couple of connections in the tank that needed replacing. Whilst he was there he replaced the fuel filter, put it all back together and all is fine (except a lighter wallet!)
BUT - the triangle has gone - did the car know that the connections were faulty and took a year to tell me?
Spooky
Cheers
Dave
