Muppet electricians
Having owned my SWIFT caravan for 2 years now, I was wondering why I can't get a picture on the telly using the on board tv aerial. Well last weekend was no different so I decided to probe around. It became apparent that the F***wit who done the wiring failed to make a decent connection on the aerial lead into the booster.
So for the last 2 years I have carried the dish and sat box around with me, just to keep up with the news and weather reports, because some numpty failed big time. It does make you wonder what else is substandard so this weekend will be spent checking all the connections and terminals.
All the time I was thinking it was either a dodgy signal area or the big tree in the way but no, it was that little who works for SWIFT doing a shoddy job.

Frapp,
Having:
1. a Swift caravan
2. been an electrician
3. been in the construction industry all my working life
4. an interest in tinkering
I'm surprised about the quality, or actual lack of it, in some of the areas in my caravan. I too have had TV reception problems and have replaced all of the co-ax connectors I've managed to find (including a through connector under the oven which was very poor), and replaced the co-ax cable between the booster and the rear TV point.
That said, I sort of expected the level of build quality before buying our first caravan and was expecting bits to fall off when driving along (having had a couple of boats in the past) which actually hasn't happened so I'm pleasantly surprised
All in all I'm actually more than happy with our Swift. If it breaks, I try to fix it.
Hope to meet you on a site some time

Had the same issue when I picked up my Bailey Barcelona, could not get a picture. Was made worse by the fact that the leads coming out of the booster then went into two more spliters. Having checkd all connections found out of the five (one coming in four going out) only one to be any good. Then checked at the ther end where the TV points were and they were just as bad. Actually, the poor tv connection is a feature (under European legislation) designed to disuade people from blocking up roads owning caravans.... Disco 5 HSE Lux

Ah, but a Sankey is ok at 'slightly' faster speeds than a caravan. And it won't have a tv - I go camping to get away from it, not take it with me!Disco 5 HSE Lux

We just use the telly around Christmas when we are away in the van. The rest of the year it stays at home. MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

ours had the ariel input in one of the outlet sockets, and vice versa. As all the coax cable disappeared off into some trunking - I spent 1/2 hour with a mulitmeter and my daughter shorting out the various TV sockets around the 'van, so that we knew which were output leads and which one was from the arial - worked fine once all plugged in correctly.
muppet is the correct technical term for caravan production line operatives.
