Jaguar XF to Didcovery 4
Just changed from an XF Jaguar to a Discovery.
Walked into a Land Rover dealership last week spotted an STDV6 XS on the showroom floor and picked it up a few days later!
Now the fact that I picked it up within a matter of days obviously means that I had no input into any extras fitted.
It did have electric seats, darkened windows and side steps fitted (may not have chosen the steps). Along with the standard gear I am reasonably happy.
I found the Land Rover sight confusing and misleading when looking at the 'key features' of the 3 models, so some things I expected as standard aren't.
So far there are 2 things that I am seriously missing after the XF, keyless entry and xenon headlights!
Once you have had keyless entry you then appreciate what an absolute pain it is to have to find something in your pocket and press a button (that you can't necessarily see in the dark). Now that may sound a bit pathetic, but believe you me I can guarantee you would feel the same after being used to just walking up to your car and opening the door!
I appreciate that I will now have to live with that as I do not think that it is feasible to have it retrofitted, but what about the xenon headlights (with LED signature lights)? Appreciate that it will cost a bob or two, but is it possible?
The pop up gear selector and flappy paddles are straight from the XF so I am used to using them so find them easy to use. Didn't have the 8 speed gearbox so that is new to me and find it very smooth, but does sometime seem to get 'bogged' down at roundabouts and other crawling situations (as stated in some road tests) Is this a software problem that could be updated in the future?
I have had 7 adults in it already (taking the wife and colleagues to their Christmas 'do') and positive comments from all regarding space and comfort.
Getting just over 30mpg so far and very pleased with that, though doubt I could get up to 50 that (with very careful driving) I could get with the Jag.
All in all I am very pleased with the car and if I can get the xenons retrofitted will be that much happier. Just have to get used to the key fob thingy

Welcome to the Forum and I hope that you're enjoying your D4
There are now two or three of us (maybe more) with MY12 XS who want to upgrade to Xenons as the halogens are pretty crappy. The problem is that the lights have to be activated and apparently LR dealerships don't know how and LR won't teach them. We therefore have to wait for a company like BBS (sponsor) BAS (sponsor)or Wiggs (sponsor) to work their magic with the electronic gizmo and files than can alter the CCF (whatever that is ) to make the activation possible.
If you contact Nick (The Large One (on here )) - he's the Parts Manager at Yeovil Land Rover - he can offer you a competitive price for the xenon units.
The more of us that say we want them, the more likely it is our Sponsor boffins will write the software or whatever it is they do that will allow the activation.
Here's hoping

Not when i tried. I have MY 10 adaptives and when I fitted them to MY 12, the LEds worked but the mains just flashed once and the system shut down (as Pete Bell advised).
