Hi. I'm new to the forum having picked up my new Disco Landmark last Friday. What a fantastic machine. I have however stopped looking at threads where people enumerate all the things that have gone wrong with theirs. It' a sort of Landie hypochondria.
When I picked it up I was given a voucher for a free half day experience which was great. I wasn't expeting it and was actually intending to pay for a whole day later in the year. I rang the number to book on at the Skipton centre and right at the end discovered I would not be able to go as I had 9 points on my licence (all SP30s) Don't ask bad few weeks last autumn.
I have two questioons.
1 Has anyone else fallen foul of this it of legislation?
2 Does the same ru;e apply if you just go and pay for the course.
I really want to do the course and don't want to have to wait 2 1/2 years until the points come off.

Hi and welcome to the mad house!
I think the issue with the penalty points is the insurance so I guess it will be the same if you pay for a full day experience. I started off with nothing and Ive still got most of it left.

the exsperiance day you where offered, was it a propper off road exssperiance, where you drive around the off road course, or was it an off road experiance that is in fact an exstended test drive? reason for asking, my wife an i have been offered a few of these when changing vehicles, but they all turn out to be a glorified test drive.
complained to land rover about this, as it seems a bit rich to offer something, that then turns out to be something different.
so in short, you may not have missed out on anything, check and and let us know,

The Land Rover Experience Vouchers given by the Dealers are for a half day experience at one of the Land Rover Experience Centres. The basic format for the 1/2 day is laid down by Land Rover and includes:
a. Short introductory briefing on Health & Safety, Land Rover Technology and Fragile Earth.
b. Demonstration drive by the Instructor.
c. Option of either, All on road, half on road/half off road or all off road.
If you have points on your licence it is often possible to opt for the all offroad option which gets round the insurance problem but it will depend on which Centre you're using

I have done the D4 and RRS at the Scottish LRE centre at Dunkeld. The first time we meant to do the D4, and after arriving found the vehicle unavailabe so were offered the RRS instead....as well as a replacement date for the D4.
We did a short road run in the RRS then spent the next 3.5hrs off road, swapping driving seats between the wife and I. The next visit up to do the D4 had no on-road driving and was solely off-road, seeing as we had done the usual tracks the instructor guided us through the forest quad bike tracks...very narrow for a D4 but immense fun.
When chatting to the instructor, she could not believe that the dealer had never offered us the LRE voucher when buying our previous 2 D2s, or indeed when buying the D3. Alledgedly all dealers have these vouchers at their disposal to be issued at their discression. I only managed to procure my first voucher by embarrasing my dealer slightly at the Royal Highland Show. They were giving vouchers away like free sweeties, so I asked just how much hard earned cash a "loyal" customer had to spend to get one!
It is an eye opener as to what the vehicles can and will do....without breaking sweat.

Didnt get one when I picked up a D3 3 years ago but given one when I picked up a new D4 just before xmas. Dealer (Guy Salmon) asked if I had previously done the experiece day and when I said no he gave me the voucher.

Hello chaps,
1st post here (although I've loitered a while),
I picked up my MY10 3.0 XS from Stratstones in November and was given a LRE half day voucher but as I'm away from home at the min and the voucher says 'claim within 28 days' I rang them to book a future date. They were really helpful on the phone and said the voucher would be valid until July so I'm looking forward to the 'experience' at some future date.
Stratstones were very helpful too during purchase.
Bill.
