Speedo accuracy on D4

I recently went on a trip to the North of Scotland and as anyone who's ever driven up the A1 & A9 all the way North will know that the Scotish plod love to install speed cameras and sit around in "Safety" vans all day. So I always have my Road Angel plugged in to get some adavanced warning of these things.
However I noticed that there was a 3mph difference between what the Road Angel was telling me and what the speedo both analogue and digital were displaying. The D4 readings were faster. I've had a Road Angel for quite a while now and used it all the time in the D3 without ever recording any differences. I had just put on a brand new set of General AT's, but as far as I'm aware that shouldn't have made any difference. Anyone else had this speed difference?

Your speedo (and most others) can display a greater speed but not less than the true speed

Quote:
the indicated speed must not exceed 110% of the actual speed, plus 6.25 mph.

Thumbs Up

Isn't there a button one is supposed to press somewhere (on the touchscreen Nav menu) after tyres have been changed?.....

Most (although not all) manufacturers speedo's read fast for perhaps obvious reasons. They are allowed to be up to 10% out, hence the 10% + 2 ACPO guidelines on speeding. Strangely the D3 I have has possibly the most accurate speedo I've ever had; it's almost bang on.

The C&U regs state an allowance of 110% + 6.25mph so if your true speed is 50mph your speedo can say up to 61.25mph Smile ...and don't forget that the ACPO guidance is based on your true speed on a calibrated deivce not what your speedo might say so if your true speed was 50mph then the ticket guidance might kick in at 57mph ....but a true speed of 57mph might show as much as high as 68.95mph on your speedo Surprised Confused ...you will be Laughing

About 5 weeks ago I came across a cash generator van early one Sunday morning Evil or Very Mad It was just over the crest of a hill after a long downhill section, as I saw the van I looked at my speedo: 40mph Censored Embarassed and I braked and passed the van. On returning home I reviewed my Blackvue footage, that said I was doing 36mph when I could first see the van Embarassed Although it's been 5 weeks tomorrow since it happened I'm still waiting for the ticket. Big Cry (Yes I know they are supposed to be issued within 14 days)
 Cheers Ian

Yes, a true speed is always used, so if prosecuted, and personal honesty kicks in, the speed quoted is always likely to be under the speed you thought you were doing. In a previous life, I never had anyone argue over speed when considering prosecution.

Despite local discretion or not, should anyone be prosecuted for anything under the 10%, challenge it. Thumbs Up

Not at all DG, and it wasn't taken that way. I don't profess to know everything and never will. I'm now a pensioner, although too young to get a bus pass! Very Happy
