Shocking MPG
Hey everyone,
I appear to be aver 18 to 19mpg in my TDV6.
While I still love it and realise its not aerodynamic It stikes me that this mpg is not good.
In my 4.5 V8 petrol Cayenne S I averaged 15.8 mpg doing the same driving.............So if I had moved to the Disco purely to get better mpg (good job i did not) it would have been a waste of time LOL
I guess you only get higher mpg doing motorway driving.
That is quite low, I do a fair mix of driving but mostly shortish runs and very little motorway and always average around 25mpgZermatt silver 06 reg.
Gone but not forgotten !!!

Doesnt sound right to me; - Unless of course you drive off road or over mountains a lot?. .
Have you checked manually based on actual fuel consumption?
Even with cold weather short trips and the extrnal heater operating daily, I am still getting around 26 mpg (down from 32 on the motorway) in my TDV6, but still pretty good.Don't put it off, go for it!

Allan I'm getting about the same (19 - 20 mpg) on short journeys. On a long trip a few months ago I managed to get 29.8 but unfortunately now I'm back to between 19 and 20 again .1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

Cheers
Thanks for the replys.
Its bizzare that there are so many differences??
My best is about just less than 20 and that was on a longer journey through town instead of start/stop Q town driving.
I drive 3 miles on dual carriageway about 1.5 miles hold up start stop then another 2.5 pretty clear traffic to car park x 2 a day average.
I may asl the dealer to check it out.
Cheers

During the week my wife manages around 22mpg with journeys less than 5 miles. At the weekend, on longer trips, we now get about 31mpg.

While I don’t have the figures, I too noticed the TDV6 to have very poor MPG. It was quite a shock compared to my Td5 & TDi discos, which would run on a sniff of diesel.
I also noticed that having the climate system set in “Auto†mode had a detrimental effect on MPG when compared to when I selected the Air-con to off.
Having moved over to the “Dark Side†since May I can say that the RRS TDV6 is a vast improvement on the D3’s MPG figures.
Which makes no sense really as it’s the same TDV6 engine.

Isn't the RRS lighter, and probably a bit less of a brick? IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver

Took a look at average m.p.g. reading after seeing this posting. Haven't reset it for about 2 months, currently showing 31.4. Mostly main roads and motorway but with some town driving. This is very similar to my previous D2, so I'm quite happy.*Disco3 7-seat Auto

It is short journeys that the car doesn't like, if my week consists of 20 mile plus journeys I'd expect 28mpg, if I was just doing little trips to the village 22 would be more likleyDS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone
