Hi Disco3 drivers,
I am still not fortunate enough to drive a disco3 as they don't come out in Australia till sometime this quarter/half of 2005. Still driving around in my DiscoII TD5 ... Waiting patiently .....
One question though - compared to the DiscoII, how is the quality of the build of the Disco3 ?
Is there plenty of plastic or rubbing noises / squeaks etc .... ?
Thanks.

The BC seems very good. It feels nice and solid. However, I reserve my judgement on how well the electronics are made, as mine has gone back to the shop with electronic errors.

Overall very good, although my dealer advises that the reason fro delays in delivery in UK is that a large number are failing the Quality Control at factory & therefore not being released. Also, as is confirmed by the main LR Newsgroups, LR have failed to have the software control systems fully implemented resulting in numerous (but minor & easily updated in software) litle glitches. Also, be aware that it can be very difficult to get a response to queries/issues from LR themselves & this seems to be reflected on both side of the Atlantic - perhaps if LR were more customer orientated & reviewed the Newsgroups (disco3.co.uk, landroverworld.org, lrchroniclepub) they would identify & resolve issues much more quickly

Ecosse,
Mmm... I think units failing QC at the factory is good - it means they catch the issues and as this imposes cost there is real impetus to improve things.
But in common with all car manufacturers, LR will be secretive, and will avoid updating software until really necessary. This is a shame, although any issues so far have been minor.
Hey, I found some materials/garbage (old duct tape etc) in the unused compartments at the sides in the back (5-seater). Talk about QC!
Having said all this: build quality seems pretty good to me (and I am comparing this to my last 13 cars, 10 MBW's and 3 Benz's).

A colleague of mine took delivery of an SE which exhibited a number of niggling electrical faults. He gave LR a chance to fix it, they didn't do it properly so he told them he was rejecting it. They huffed and puffed but eventually replaced it with an HSE at no additional cost. He was a lawyer.
The moral of this tale is do not put up with small niggling faults (within reason). This is a £40k car and that price tag carries with it certain legitimate expectations. Don't be afraid to assert your legal rights and don't be fobbed of with LR's usual excuses. If a few start coming back to the factory, they'll tighten up their QC.

does this mean Aussie Disco3's will be built better?? or would LR not fix the problems and wait for an update to do such things?

Maybe they will send the faulty ones over there as its sooo far away
Seriously, build quality is exceptionally high especially when compared to the Disco II. Some plastics are a bit too shiny but I guess add to the utility feel of the car.
I drove an Audi previously and while not quite up the quality of this I was finding no other cars of a high enough standard until I drove the D3.
Only rattle I have is in the head lining around the rear passenger courtesy lights and the centre cubby box creaks if you lean on it (I don't have the fold away arm rests in my S).
