I was really disappointed with the Goodyears that came stock. I went to the dealership and they recommended the Pirelli Scorpion Zero. They're also a Volvo dealership and they've been putting those on the Volvo SUVs.
Anyway, I am VERY happy with the result. Great looking tire, great handling and performance, and quiet as a whisper.
I just replaced some Michelins on my 99 Disco1 with Pirelli Scorpion ATRs I ordered off tirerack.com and I'm very pleased with those so far too.
For what it's worth...

Paxton,
I agree that the Pirelli Scorpion is a very quiet tyre, but be warned they are also very soft and my fronts need to be replaced after just 10,000 miles! Si

I have only had Pirellys on my D3 - (2 months old)
On my range rover i had goodyear and some other makes of tyres.
Exterience here was that goodyears were the worst ever and the best ever were bridgestone Dueller H/T 689.
Cheers

Next time try the michelin's synchrones, they are the best for on-road and sandy off-road.
my car has run about 65000km with them and still had good tread. '05 LR3 HSE V8 - Adriatic Blue - Larini Exhaust System - Lamp Guards - Dual battery system - Hidden 12k winch - Rasta Sump Guard

I agree with the Synchrones, mine have done 20,000 now and are about 50% worn, much better than the Wranglers that wore quickly. The Michelins are much quieter too, and are ok off road and in the snow.

New Tires, Use Continental Tires ContiCrossContact LXs |
|
I just recently purchased Continental Tires from www.tirerack.com. The size is a larger 285/60/18. These tires look great and there is no rubbing! Excellent wet weather and highway tire. I have yet to try them in snow, but I imagine they would work just fine. The Warranty on the tires are great too, 60K. You might sacrifice a little on the speed rating from an H to a T, but who needs to go over 115 mph anyway! I recomment getting these tires if you are looking for something to replace the stock tires. I liked the tires so much, I switched out the stock tires on my new LR3. Thinking ahead I guess since these tires are poorly rated! These are by far the best quality tires for the money around. Who needs the goodyears anyway?
