New Wheel Bearings & New Tyres

Hi,

Correctly diagnosed failed front wheel bearings (both sides) at ~73,000 miles earlier this week Big Cry . Wheels moved without even jacking the car up (grabbed the top of the tyre and rocked the wheel backwards and forwards Whistle ) and when I did jack the car up, there was in excess of 5mm of lateral play there Shocked . No particular warning signs apart from an intermittent, metallic, squeal when pulling away and tyres badly worn on the inside edges.

Anyway, that's now been fixed and I'm now £500 or so worse off Big Cry . Would've done it myself if I had all the tools and a day to spare thanks to these excellent instructions written by disco_steve Bow down over here:

So, I've seen a lot of positive reviews on here for General tyres. I'm looking for something to replace my Pirelli Scorpions. Trouble is, I'll only be replacing the front ones for now as there are several mm of tread still left on the back.

These General Grabber UHP's look good:

Is it OK to keep my Scorpions on the back (for now) and these on the front?

Most of my miles are ploughing up and down the M3 and I very rarely off road my Disco Embarassed so I am looking for a tyre that is primarily a highway tyre rather than an all terrain model.

AJS - what are your thoughts on this?

Cheers,

Steve

Forgot to mention, the Pirelli Scorpions have done an excellent job of protecting my rims (when SWMBO drives it, of course). Will the sidewalls on the General Grabber UHPs hold-up just as well?
