Vive la difference

nope, it's not in the wrong regional section.... Rolling Eyes
Had a look at Viper's gallery ( http://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/index.php?cat=10299 )
The rear mudflaps look a lot better than the puny UK ones and there appears to be headlight protection lenses fitted (complete with a little LR oval) are these standard in Oz? or are they accessories? .... if so.... what are the part numbers.... Wink

Cheers,

Those flaps look like mine... I think its the dirt accentuating the angles on the plastic... could be wrong though.

Oooh I want those headlight covers !

They do these for Freelander including a pair for use abroad with the dark bits already applied. Very handy, less hassle than either sticky stuff or taking out the damn headlights to flick a switch... and then not really knowing if the lever has flicked properly.

Maybe they just added these to the accessories list ?

Have a look closely at one of the larger gallery pictures, there's definitely an extra bit on there. But it doesn't look any more flexible than the rest and if so it's probably even more likely to get ripped off!

Formula 4x4 do similar headlight protectors but I doubt they'll fit as well as the LR ones. Need to get the part number for them!

mmm now I see what you mean... missed that photo.

Agree... less spray to others but more expensive as they WILL get knocked off.

I just had to go out and look at my rear mudflaps.
They are the same as in the photo, the extra bit is not an extra bit but is all part of the mudflap (one moulding). These must be the standard flaps on the Ausie spec. They are quite flexible..

I will be contacting the LR dealer about the headlamp protectors tomorrow, they were not available when I bought my D3...

I think they are dust deflection, where we do not have that problem in the UK. Similar to the dirt bikes in the stadiums, to keep the dust low.

If they are dust deflectors I don't know where they deflect the dust to as the clouds of dust when driving on dirt roads is just as bad as my TD5. Cactus I took some close up pics of the mudlaps but have forgotten how to get them into the gallery.

The headlamp protectors are made in Australia for Land Rover Australia, I have been quoted A$98 (about GBP40) for a pair from my Land Rover dealer. Cheap insurance I thinks....

Those mud flaps are not very flexible in my opinion Crying or Very sad I have purchase 4 brand new ones to replace all of my 4 cracked ones. The part number for the rear ones are CAT500103PCL (Right Rear) & CAT500113PCL (Left Rear). The front ones area aset of two - CAT500010PCL. The stickers on the boxes state Made in the UK so I suppose our UK counterparts can get the same mudflaps us Aussies get.

I'm going to get a set of front light protectors for sure. Just a note about the manufactuer of these. It is likely that they are Australian made. There is a company which specialises in headlamp covers for many makes of cars in Australia and these come with the manufacturer's logo printed on them.

I think you will find they are made by EGR of Australia

http://www.egrauto.com.au/eng/swf/container.html

I am getting some made at the moment but have yet to have the fixing made, which is yet to be designed.
