Would like a navigators roadbook holder

Hi all,

Calling on the collective awesomeness!

We will be going on the H4H rally in Jun and would like something to position the roadbook/tulip map (A4 minimum) in front of the navigator, it would be good at other times for the ipad too. Last year we had a clipboard just pinging around Laughing . I have seen these fashioned from chequer plate in defenders and replace the grab handle but never in a disco. Maybe use of the upper glove box for fixing it.

I have scoured the net, and I have looked for pics and for some for sale to no avail Big Cry

If anybody knows what I going on about please could they recommend something Laughing

Have you considered Ram mounts?

In our Defenders we use their flexi arms mounted on the seat bolt like this

Can be used to hold iPads, laptops etc

If you have a suitable grab handle, look at the round plate

Various device holders can be mounted to it. Now if it is just A4 paper notes need to hold how about a clip board bolted to such a plate.

If you neen more info give me a shout as we stock some of the Ram Moutrs

Hi Brendan, thanks. I can work with that round plate I reckon by attaching it to an existing brodit mount then, as you say, bolt on a clip board. Is the backing plate on this ram mount (at the grab handle) normally flat before the jubille clip went on please?

I expect there are 3 parts to that, have you stock of them?

Many thanks

In fact, the round piece on both ends would work a treat Thumbs Up

Hi Dave, there are literally hundreds of combinations of Ram mounts, so lots of mounting solutions are possible.

Ball size also varies due to expected load of device to be carried. Also different lengths of arm between the plates.

Give me an idea of length of arm required and a little bit of time and I will see what possible solutions there are.

Hi Dave, the round base plates with 1" ball are about £8 each and the 3" double socket arm are about £14 The 1" balls will take about 1.5 kg.

Brendan, it's all good mate, still undecided on the reach I want and I want to do iPad at the same time but obviously on a separate mount. It's getting messy! Shocked I don't have the disco as reference point either at he moment but will get back to you with a short list for your advice.

Thoroughly recommend Ram mounts too. But do give a thought to positioning hard stuff re airbag. Could do a nasty injury if it's positioned directly in front of navigator. Perhaps better mounted towards the centre away from direct firing line Or consider turning airbag off!

One advantage the Defender has. No pyrotechnics!
