And once again I'm reminded....
....of another reason I have a Discovery
We had heavy sleet overnight, which then froze hard, leaving the best efforts of the Gritter completely pointless.
The roads are lethal round here this morning, and I passed at least 2 cars "parked" in hedges.....and loads of very obvious tracks in the road where other cars have skidded.
Just took the kids to school...took my time, and tried to avoid the brakes if at all possible.....no drama,no fuss......and not once did the car break traction.......
Wouldn't want to have been in anything else on a morning like this "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Scary how capable even a lowly D3 is
Was up in the middle of Aberdeenshire last week, after a hard frost. Driving fairly gently. No dramas, no fuss.
Stopped outside a house on a steep slope. Got out the car and nearly landed on my
Once done, slipped my way into the car, and drove away. No T/C, nothing, just got on with it
Only time the TC/DSC did kick in was when provoked with a boot of the go pedal

Yes GG AT's....deliberately provoked them when the kids had been dropped off....a firm dab on the brakes got the ABS kicking in almost instantly...I just wanted to know how much grip I had. They never moved going round corners, but were pretty quick to lock up on the straight under braking.I actually found mine brillaint in the snow, but require a bit more respect on ice.... other than an out-and-out Winter tyre, what tyre doesn't I suppose ?"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Had that here on Tuesday morning, cars in ditches, others sat forlornly in pieces in the middle of the road.
I'm convinced many look outside and think "....oooh, it's frosty so I think I'll leave my brains at home "

Yup,witnessed one a couple of years ago....heavy snow on the M8 between Edinburgh and Glasgow and the outside lane quickly became lethal....well,apart from the clown in his Merc ML,who clearly thought as he had 4wd he could go as fast as he liked....a couple of miles down the motorway he realised it stops quickly too....especially if you stuff it in the central barrier "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Been out here in the snow, I've got to constantly remind myself to not to drive as normal as it's a bit slick. Ploughs doing their usual job of leaving the last few cm of snow & then compressing it into ice on the next pass.
Nothing in the ditch around here that I saw. Yet.

Only high winds and rain here, I'm tempted to fit one of those large kites the surfers have and change to wind power.
