Oil filler rubber o-ring in engine cover |
|
Hi,
There is a rubber seal of sorts that goes around the hole in the engine cover for the oil filler cap. Unfortunately this is disintegrating on my car. Is there a hot tip on a suitable replacement? I guess it comes out of the engine cover? I haven't dared have a go...
Thanks,
Andy

Just prise it out, it doesn't seal anything so you wont lose any oil.

Another great Land Rover design - want to change the oil filter or for whatever reason take the engine cover off after a very dusty trip and as the fill cap has to be removed first, I am surprised there are not more engine failures caused by dirt going into the oil fill hole - maybe that is where the missing bit of the rubber seal have gone when removing the engine cover.
