2013 build 3.0 diesel D4. My first service I am assured by dealer is to be 26000km. Is this correct? Seems a long time from brand spankers to me. PS I am in NZ. Near enough 40 degrees South!!!

According to LR that is correct although id be looking at changing the oil and filter within the first thousand miles or so.

Yep, in line with LR service schedue at 16,000 miles!
It does rack up in Kms though... I was discussing mileage with our Dutch CEO the other week and he struggled with the concept that my D4 had done close to 60,000km in little more than a year...
Mind you, Holland is a very small country! D4 Commercial - 65 Plate, 2016MY
D5 Commercial - Handed back when I left that job…
D4 Commercial (2014MY) - gone
D4 Commercial SDV6 - Baltic Blue (also gone)
D1 300TDi... 2" lift, HD bumpers (both), detachable tow hitch, 9,500lb winch, 235/85/16 muds and plenty of other toys (gone to make way for the next toy...)
Smiles per Mile - Tornado Motorsports caged Evo 3... 100" Defender look-alike, with Range Rover running gear - all fully IVA'd and registered!
