complete new rear cross member and new tow pack as the tech noticed some rust marks on the hitch leading in to the cross member fixings, we undid the supports and low and behold the tow bar waggled left and right in the cross member bracket like my dogs tail
we concluded that if the supports were'nt there and was one of those removalable ones, would have fallen out sometime ago
tried the old tow bar in the new cross member - too warn down to not to waggle more than the 2mm allowance under MOT regs and yer cant buy the actual bracket on its own, have to but the whole kit at £350 odd

Ouch!
On the positive side for most owners, my removable unit is as tight as tight thing after 90k vehicle miles. Probably towed for about 7k of them.

You could save a big chunk of cash by going to TLO for parts and an indy to fit, and you could still do the new engine, you are looking as a minimum 22 hours labour.
If you need new injectors, I have 6 sat in my utility room looking for a good home, I'm sure we could reach a mutual agreement, only used for 149 miles! Joined the BMWX5 45e group

So is there a problem with sourcing new / reconditioned 2.7 engines from land Rover?
I've just been told that my vehicle won't be ready today (as planned) bacuse the dealer hasn't been able to get an engine. Apparantly they can't get a date when an engine will be available.
I have to say that i'm not impressed. Last Thursday they told me that the engine would be with them on Friday, that the body would be off on Monday and that it would all be done today. It's taken them until today to say that they haven't got an engine.

Major issues with engines it seems. Some components are not available apparently which is causing supply issues. Wonder if it's the oil pump casing that is in demand.... Bodsys Brake Bible

TLO has been very helpful.
Apparantly this morning there were 44 outstanding orders for reconditioned engines from LR - and only 2 due in!
Looks like it could be a long wait! (well LR are saying 2-3 weeks)

JPW - just wondered if you'd got your hands on a new engine yet, or whether they really are weeks away from delivery? Thanks

I have a phone call yesterday morning from LR Customer Service to say that a new engine had just been delivered to my dealer and that they were in the process of unpacking it.
Customer service said that they would let me know how the swap progressed. Hopefully it should only takem a couple of days.

Thank you gents.
I think it's all a bit late though - the dealers rang this morning to say that the body's off and they are starting to take the old engine out.
Hopefully I should get it back on Monday.
