My car is due a service so thought i would ring around. My local dealer is at about £225 for an A service and around £375 for a B service. However, up to Lakes for a week this week so thought might get a quote from lakeland LR so i can drop off, go for a walk and come back. Price i was quoted has literally made me wet my pants laughing...... A service £410.00 and then.....wait for it..... B service - £742.00
Is some one having a laugh.
Maybe the Mods could start a sticky post or some form of sheet where people put in dealer, location, service type and price so we can see who is cutting a deal or who is pulling your pants down around the country

Why not contact one of our sponsors like 10forcash for a competitive quote and excellent service?

Thats odd, i first started using Lakeland about 15 years ago and have always found them to be a very competetive dealership !
And also "In my experience" One of if not the best !
I rang them about a month or so ago with the same querry, they were near enough the same as both Ripon LR & Duckworths at Market Rasen.
I went for Duckworths as it was closer and i couldnt be bothered driving all that way, plus the cost of fuel Only dead fish go with the Flow !

is this a commercial reply by chance, seems a bit too indepth for the average D3 owner to "absorb"
dont wish to be a killjoy, there are some very good franchised dealers who sponsor the site, might be worth a bit of an edit

Errr, I own a Brewery and have never even used this garage, I just cut and pasted it from their web site as I thought it pertinent to the thread. Helping ugly people have sex since 1995 !

You own a brewery? You might be just about to become everyone's new best friend. I'm surprised Martin hasn't invited you to become a sponsor. And as for a group buy.........................
Regarding service, try a site sponsor.

I missed the edited post unfortunately so can only guess.
I happened to mention that i was on holiday in the lakes so dont know whether they decided to take advantage or what was the problem as i have always heard that Lakelands labour rates were some of the lowest.
I had my RRS last service by TFC and an excellent service I had, just wanted to see dealer prices as in car most days at the moment and a courtesy car comes in handy on this occassion.
Current position is that i rang five LR garages, and current best price for the B service is £350 incl parts, labour and VAT. Started at £450 and then they started calling back!!

yes that's me.
Shame you missed my post before I edited it, I thought it was quite informative about how the Main LR dealers are structured and why you pay through the nose with them. Helping ugly people have sex since 1995 !

My 2006 D3 is due a service soon. It's done around 97,000 miles so am thinking of using a LR specialist rather than a main dealer given warranty has long since expired. Is this sensible move or not, and if so, can anyone recommend a good specialist in Kent?
Thanks.

Is this the 105k service? If so, it's a big one. Not all indies do them and not all that do are competent at it.
Some folk recommend RCV in Tonbridge, but if cost is an issue it can be worth driving. Nene Overland in Peterbrough and Brownchurch in East London are cheaper by quite a margin. Can't offer a personal recommendation as have always used TFC, who doesn't do the 105k VIN: A175A328***
