Just broken down !!!!! (31st Dec 2021)
Just broken down.
Car was running fine. Message came up to say engine something, and lost power.
Tried starting. It cranks but when I take my finger off the start button, it carries on cranking. Will only stop when I take my foot off the brake.
Ideas?
It is safe off the road, so will leave it and get the RAC tomorrow.

Need the codes read in order to offer anything meaningful. There's never a good time to break down, but new years eve has to be one of the worst.
Get yourself home safe and tomorrow's another day. (Err.. year even)yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

No there wasn’t. Just cut out as I was started to accelerate to overtake.
Waiting for RAC now.
Was just wondering if anyone knows if the car keeps trying to start after you take your finger if the start button?MY07 Freelander2 SE Santorini Black - Gone

Yes it will as the starting is an automatic response to the starter button being pressed hence why you only have to press the button momentarily even on the coldest of days which brings about a delay in cranking until heater plags have done their thing. If it doesnt fire up it will keep cranking until it fires. However when you take your foot off the brake it stops as it removes the safety that allows the engine to crank in the first place.
Logic suggests a sensor showing as over pressure on the fuel rail would cause it not to start for its own safety. It could be as simple as the sensor needs replacing.

Or even more simpler. Try to change the fuel filter.

I know what you mean. Car only got to the garage yesterday, but father also rushed into cardiac ward so car isn't my top priority for the moment.MY07 Freelander2 SE Santorini Black - Gone
