Hi piper5
Welcome to the forum. I think you would be happy with a Faultmate FCR which are are around £250 it will read and clear all faults. It won't however re-set the service reminder. They do a separate tool for this which is about £60. I've got both and I'm very happy with them. I read 51 faults the first time i used it!! and none on a generic reader.
There is another tool called a Iid Tool buy gap diagnostics which will do all the above for about £250. I chose the Faultmate because for about £30 you can buy a licence so the FCR will work on a Disco4 (finger crossed might have one day!)which i don't think the Iid tool does.
PS you can get a 10% discount on the Faultmate as they are forum sponsors but there are criteria, 60 posts on the site is one.

As said the Faultmate FCR is a very good tool for read and clear fault codes, and also the SRT service reset tool. The FCR very shortly will have some extra function available to it called Genesis which can add via a web server functions you only need every now and then like service resetting etc etc.
The Genesis system is set up so you can use the cable from the FCR for the connection to the car and pc, the rest is done over the web.
The link below shows some info on Genesis but there are many more posts on the forum too.
