I've got handles and half mirror covers on Cairns Blue, it works well but any more might look a bit too blingtastic.
Maybe it's a darker colour thing. Mods:

A few shiny bits on mine: handle covers, window trim strips (quite discreet), tailgate strip, and shiny letters at front (de-lettered rear). Stornoway Grey, black bits and a wee bit of bling looks quate nayce.

chrome does look nice. I also have mirror caps (top bit and bottom bit), door handles, side indicator lights chrome cover, window strips chrome, chrome grille, debadged the front and rear, Front has chrome letters, the rear bottom bit also has land rover chrome letters, chrome headlight washers. my lr3 is also stornoway gray.
Only thing with chrome i find is that it gets dirty quicker.
