Auto Gears, no 4th, 5th and 6th fix |
|
Hi all,
Not been a member or LRS D3 owner for long but thought I'd share this gem with you having read a couple of similar entries of the same nature.
I had a blow out on the front NS tyre and merrily went to a local fitter and had a new boot fitted.
The day after I took the family out for a journey of some 200 miles round trip and found that the D3 was revving up into the 3000ppm when cruising a steady 60/70/80mph.
I shifted to manual step control and found that I was in third, so manually up shifted to 4th, 5th then 6th. I did this for the duration of the journey both ways thinking the worst that I'd need to spend on gear box or software maintainence.
I read on a post that was similar that tyres can have an effect, so with hope, checked the new boot I had fitted and found that the fitter had fitted a 255/50, not a 255/55 so the D3 had stopped itself from getting higher than 3rd gear!
I had the tyre fitted properly the next day with the correct tyre and presto, gearbox back to normal and all worries gone.
Just thought I'd share this to maybe help other newbies that might end up in the same boat or use the same tyre service!
All the best for now....

hi I thought the gearbox would not get past third if the electronics feel you have a flat tyre through rotational differences.
maybe its gradable... It is better to have and not need it then need and not have it.
