Infotainment/Sat Nav screen speed?

It has been posted previously about slow response times on the sat nav screen, and I have found the problem at times often when the reversing camera is slow to clear first thing in the morning. What I noticed when I was checking oil levels by turning the ignition on without the engine, is that there is a humming noise at that point! It sounded familiar, and then it occured to me that it's the same as my computer at start up when the disc whirrs around loading up programs!
So the question for the more computer minded Very Happy is, does this mean that LR have all the programs/data for the sat nav/infotainment on a laptop style hard disk which is then "booting up" when the ignition is turned on? And, if so, what is the spec of that disk? And in turn, if as I suspect it's neither very high speed (rpm) nor fitted with a lot of cache memory; would it be possible to (just as with a pc) pull the disk out, clone/copy it to a new one (same gb size but either a fast hybrid disk or even a Solid State Drive disk Shocked ) and replace it into the car.
I'm sure there would be warranty issues!!, but it would be interesting to know if the car is that modular, as it does provide an upgrade/fix route for the shortcoming should anyone find it too annoying!

Wiggs - is it possible though to just "image" the drive in any way as opposed to reading it?

There's not much point ... Each hard drive is locked to each screen .. I've had 3 on the bench here and tryed swapping the hard drives .

Oh and the hard drive only holds the maps ... All the other stuff is built into the screen ( so screen works without a hard drive )

So as far as making it go faster ... That's going to be the software in the screen not the hard drive

That probably tells us the answer then Crying or Very sad - the infamous LR software strikes again! - really seems to indicate that it's their software coding as if there's no hard drive to slow it down then it must be reading from RAM or similar?

You also have to take your battery level / battery monitor into consideration ..

If its low it will not power the screen until the car starts .

I have an on going "low battery warning " every time I start ... The reversing camera is a waste of time as I have already reversed before it comes on

Just checked my oil this evening. Pretty sure the humming is the air con fan kicking in. Normally not noticeable with the engine is on.
