Lock keyless D4 with engine running
Can anyone please advise whether it is possible to lock the D4 HSE (keyless entry) from the outside whilst the engine is still running? This would be useful for example for maintaining battery charge for auxiliary kit whilst away from the vehicle.
I believe the blue lighters have an after market device which allows this on normal cars with ignition keys. Would this work on a keyless D4?
As a sideline, can the key be used to kill the car from the outside? say someone nicks it while I am unloading at the tailgate with the key in my pocket, can I press a button on the key to stop the engine? Either as standard or customisation?2016 D4 Landmark SDV6 (Euro6), Zanzibar (late run D4)

Once the key is not present in the driver's seat area, the car should go into "key not found" mode which as far as I know prevents the EPB from operating........ Try this out, get someone to stay in the car watching the info screen on the dash whilst you disappear off with the key in your pocket and the engine running.........
There are a low number of places where the key must be to allow the EPB to operate, these are given in the vehicle handbooks.
Also, the 2010 models have an emergency panic button which I believe flashes the lights and sounds the alarm, should anyone manage to off with your vehicle....
The system is also supposed to be clever enough to only work with one key at a time, so for example if you were out of the vehicle with the engine running and the other key is in SWMBO's handbag in the car, for example, this should still prevent theft....

I take it then that no one has a solution. Maybe I'll head off to the blue light shop ... I suspect they might not let me in though (or worse, not let me back out again!) 2016 D4 Landmark SDV6 (Euro6), Zanzibar (late run D4)

Don't think it's possible in a D4 as it knows the car is running and won't allow it to lock .
I had a run stop fitted I'm my G4 ... But you still can't lock the doors ( although if someone tryed driving off it would shut down the car )
I have spoke to some highways agency lads about it in a D4 as I couldn't get my head round how it would work with keyless entry .... They confirmed my suspicions and said while you can walk away with the engine running ... And if some one attempts to nick it it will shut down ... When returning to the car you must stop it then re start it
I have yet had time to try it in my D4 yetG4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Ok thanks for that, it makes sense.
I have seen quite a number of Police D4s around, I guess they must have run stop fitted and must have to put up with stopping the engine when they return to the car.
It's not the kind of thing I would use very often but I am sure that when it is needed it would help immensely.

Run lock
Hi
For your notice it is illegal to have a runlock system installed on a public vehicle and doing so would invalidate your insurance runlock systems are only for use either for the emergency services or MOD
It can be installed on the d4 but Im not sure whether the emergency vehicles have keyless entry as they are bottom of the range spec
cheers
I'm not suggesting you're wrong MikeS, but why on earth is it illegal to fit a run stop?

Good point on the Police D4s being keyed entry.
I recall being told that it is illegal to have a fuel burning machine running unattended in a vehicle/on a road/in a public place and wondered if the webasto heaters fall under that category 2016 D4 Landmark SDV6 (Euro6), Zanzibar (late run D4)

Brilliant Amazing!
Now the question is wll the car unlock from the outside after that procedure given that it never expected to have to unlock itself with it's engine running? 2016 D4 Landmark SDV6 (Euro6), Zanzibar (late run D4)
