One Glasgow dealer quoted £550 but my shocked silence caused them to, ahem, 'remind' me that I qualified for a 10% discount. Strathean quoted less than half this price, so they got my custom Smile

£450 is the best price I can get at a main dealer Shocked Although I'm reluctant to use an indie to save a couple of hundred quid, it will no doubt cost me more than this when I come to sell it on or trade it in - all part of the ownership experience Razz

So long as the independent garage use genuine Land Rover parts and work to Land Rover warranty standards then you should have no problem. Strathearn certainly do this.

I remember a few years ago there was a bit of uncertainty about various manufacturers leading people to believe that you had to have any work done by a main dealer to ensure warranty validity, trade-in prices, etc. Not sure which manufacturers may have tried this, but it was shown to be an infringement of an owner's legal right to choose who works on their vehicle (to the appropriate standard obviously) while at the same time protecting any warranty, etc. If a dealer tries to tell you it alters trade-in value, it doesn't.

not having a LR dealer stamp might affect a dealer's ability to put it into the LR Approved scheme, which gives them an excuse to hurt your trade-In price?

Yes, that's what I believe too. I know the indie service using LR parts 'should' be fine for any future warranty claims etc but for resale the difference between a car with full LR Service history and one without may well amount to more than you can save using an indie to service a couple of times.

Also for ambigous warranty type claims where LR goodwill could be called on ( Shocked has happened in the past), an indie stamp will put paid to this for sure.

All imo of course, and applicable more for newer vehicles. My mileage is relatively low so this is an annual cost for me so not so bad really and I'll do the brake pads myself Wink
