My Christmas Present...
Well, I've had it a couple of weeks now and I just want to say I LOVE my new Disco 3!! Hubby wanted it to be a surprise for Christmas, but he had to ring from the dealers and ask what colour I wanted, he was tempted to buy black as he knows I like black (ordinary) cars, but this Buckingham Blue is gorgeous!!!
One of the neighbours knocked my door to give us a Christmas card while it was stood on the drive, he said "I can arrange a visit from the "Friends of the Earth"... I'm not sure he was joking, but it didn't bother me, I just told him to clear off!!! It's my guess he was jealous of my beatiful, Buckingham Blue chariott!!!
I will be taking it around the farm, but for now I just gaze lovingly at it. I think it's a woman thing, and I'm small, only 5'3" tall, but I do love to drive big vehicles...
Girls, stick with me, do we women like big cars for any reason??If you never try, you'll never know...

My missus loves my car so much that she rarely drives her own leaving me to walk everywhere. She is short also at 5'4" and loves the "barge factor"....
Cool colour choice - more distinguished than these blacks and silvers
Enjoy.

Welcome to the site slipware.
If you are short remember to put it in ACCESS mode. My wife is short and if I leave it in standard or Off Road mode, she just falls out , then struggles to get back in . Its funny for a while. then she shouts at me and makes me feel guilty Duncan

Trade her in for a taller model. Here is a suggestion:

This has prabably been posted before but here goes,
Everyone harps on about the 'chelsea tractor drivers' , friends of the earth haters, gas guzzlers etc.. but what about the ones who drive around in Jags, vans, trucks, buses and come to think of it, most luxury vehicles that burn fossil fuels etc..?
No one has a go at them for the amount of pollution they emit do they!!
Are they going to have their road tax and congestion charge increased?? I bet not!! !
I was under the impression that a Disco 3 is actually better for the environment than most other 4x4's as it does more miles to the gallon..is this true??
I have my Landrover for medical reasons (cant get in and out of most lower cars plus I need room for my wheelchair and scooter in the boot)
Leave us alone!! We come in peace and mean you no harm!! LOL

Hi Jennifer, all good sentiments, but please can you keep your text normal size? it would make it easier to read the thread

I suspect the answer is yes! If they were to try and impose extra charges on vehicles based purely on the amount of driven wheels the proverbial fan would quickly be in a very sorry state! Despite all the rubbish in the press and generated by the eco idiots the only realistic way they can charge is based on engine size and emissions which will catch many other vehicles. So whilst it may not be particularly fair we won't be the only ones to sufferThe End

Just an update on my first few weeks...
Went to Wales last weekend, 424 mile round trip. The Disco3 went like a dream and whereas I had been a little concerned about the amount of diesel being consumed, on a long trip the little darling averaged about 29MPG, which is brilliant!! Around town, I have to say it is very considerably less, but then that's expected.
Never having owned a Discovery I can't compare it to anything else, so I'm happy with all aspects of it, no complaints at all.
I used to own a Freelander and that was disasterous, and so it was a big leap of faith to go for this Disco, and I think it has paid off...
Love it!!If you never try, you'll never know...

Hi Slipware....nice photo.....
When you chose the colour of your D3 (fantastic choice by the way ) did you get it to coincide with the colour of the shadows made by the surrounding buildings on your farm?
Maybe I need to adjust the contrast on my monitor, but all I could really see was a nice farmhouse and a big dark shadow with half an alloy wheel poking out the front.
By the way....wish your D3 happy birthday from all of us on the site 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG
