What’s this random cable?

I thought I might start a new game for Christmas. “What’s this random cable for?”

Started trying to sort my EPB. First real job on the disco, so starting to get to places I hadn’t previously seen.

Pic 1 - random connector at the battery (and what looks like an after market connection to the battery

Pic 2, above the spare wheel. This oval shaped plastic was just lying loose, and has an electrical connector to it (which is all that’s stopping it disappearing)

Any help would be gratefully received

One under the bonnet is for the transit relay, no longer required

The one under the car is a TPMS receiver

Thumbs Up

Ahhh, less of a challenge than I thought 🤣🤣

Should the tpms sensor be screwed down? Or is it meant to just flap around?

It's not a receiver it's an initiator, there are four, one in each wheelarch. The spare doesn't require one.
The TPMS receiver is in the control module. if it's not connected to anything it's likely a 'spare' left there from build, if it is connected, then there should be two plastic rivets holding it to the wheelarch liner.

The above is correct. I've always called it a receiver as its easier to explain Laughing

The aftermarket connection to the battery may well be the power supply lead to the Battery Monitoring Sensor which is attached to the battery negative terminal.

Not at all.
The BMS connector you're talking is on the negative end of the battery with wires blue and brown.
The other one is around the other end (+) with wires green and black. This connector is not aftermarket but genuine and designed to connect to the "transit relay" (YWN500140), an orange block that is removed by the dealers when cars are delivered. Some explications here : https://landroverforums.com/forum/general-...lr4-82292/.

Thanks a lot to all on this forum that make me learn more and more about my car everyday ! Thumbs Up
