Too much oil

I have just had the first service yesterday, and thought I would check the Oil level over night on the flat in the garage. The oil is over the full arrow, should I take some out. Will it do any harm, I have only done 2 miles since I picked it up.

Mine came back the same and I've done 4500miles since then. Sometimes get a bit black reak on moving off, but can't say I'm too othered about it.

1/2 L

Just took 1/2 L out and didn't drop the sump plug in the tray. Dip stick now correct.

TBH, 0.5 litre is neither here nor there, ran mine for over 6000 miles after a dealer oil change with the level 'high' with no negative effect... Still think they should, of all people, be able to get it right though Rolling Eyes

could you quantify 'high' as mine is above the top red blob and am concerned about this. dealer seems to think it should not be a problem.

if there were 5 balls, mine would still be above the top one, is this more than half a litre and what could the possible consequences be (seals etc)
p.s. snappy response 8)

Given the angles the TDV6 is designed to operate at, I can't see it being a problem... It may be worth emailing your dealer the question (so as to get a written response) Excessive oil pressure shouldn't be an issue as this is created by the oil pump not the volume of oil. Worst case would be if the level was high enough to force it past the piston rings, indicated by blue exhaust smoke

I'm working the last 3 days of my notice period so i've got nowt else to do Whistle
