After a visit to my local dealer in Miami last week (my headlight-turned-fish-tank was what brought me in) I got a little confused about how LR is naming these trucks these days. Ok, so in the dealer lot there was a new LR3 with just the "LR3" on the tail gate, no other numbers/letters ect (never seen that before so I'm not sure wht that is). And if my memory serves me right, the lot was predominately V6 SE's. But there were also a few V8 SE's (much less in number however). And to top it off, there wasn't a single V8 HSE to be found. So what gives. I bought my LR3 in Tampa and at the time the V8 HSE trucks were all they had. So has land rover simply dropped the HSE from the line up or are they just naming them differently? Or are HSE trucks hard to sell so dealers cary less of them now?Haha, or perhaps my dealer is just playing alphabet soup to mess with me (I wouldn't put it past them).

Not sure of US situation but it is more likely that the HSEs are sold before they reach the lot. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

You can check an option to have the spec badge deleted... so you can drive a 'poor mans version' and no will will know if its an HSE or not.
Most manufacturers offer this.
That could be a reason.
Or they simply fell off on the rather long journey from Solihull to the US.

Good answers! I didn't realize there was a de-badge option (and here I thought I was going crazy). I'm just lucky that all I have to keep straight are the v6 and v8 gas models. I don't know what I would do if I started seeing all the diesel numbers and letters here. I'm not sure about you all, but I like trying to guess what model car or truck I'm looking at by its options/body kit/wheels. I've become an expert at this for BMW, Mercedes and older Porsche cars too... but its a little sad that I'm still learning how to tell LR's from each other (though I did notice that the supercharged models have nifty black badges and blueish tail lights).

Oh... and you can buy the SC LR badges and add them to your D3 Looks great with silver or black along with matching wheel centres.

Hi All,
It's money. Cheaper to put LR3 than DISCOVERY3 & SE than HSE! Did you think I would leave you crying,
When there's room in my D3 for 7,
Climb in here Joe we'll soon be flying,
I can go just as fast with 7.

Hi Sideview,
Tax,Tax,Tax,Tax & more bloody TAX. Tax on tax when you buy a car here. Once $55k (Aust) is reached you pay ''Luxury Car Tax'' at 25% of over $55k. Then GST (Goods & Services Tax) on the total price including other tax. (Sales, Registration, Luxury, comprehensive 3rd party insurance).
Cheers,
