New purchaser of a D4 / LR4 here. I have the Alpine roof with the plastic sharkfin on top. Due to the roof rack I want to put on and some issues with clearance where I will park it, i need to remove the sharkfin.
Has anyone done this? More importantly, what did you use to cover the hole where the wire leads came through - does LR make a blanking plate for this or did you have to make your own?
There are quite a few helpful threads on replacing the sharkfin, but none I could find talked about removing it completely and replacing it with a blanking plate.
Any help would be appreciated
Scott

The 2012MY Shark Fin is really low profile, roughly 1" thick. Just a bit thicker than a blanking plate, you can hardly see it. Couldn't you replace it with that?
Mine is a MY2012 and what I have isn't low profile. It needs to come off altogether. Plus, if there is actually a low profile sharkfin out there on other 2012s, I really don't want to have to buy a new sharkfin. I'd rather buy a blanking plate.
Also, appreciate whatever thoughts you have. If anyone can provide me a part number for a blanking plate for the alpine roof, that would be great as well.

This might sound like a daft question but don't you need it ?
Sat Nav ? T.V ? Telephone ?
I have a D3 XS with none of the above but I do have a blanking plate up top where the fin should be,
I thing your best bet is to speak to Nick, parts man @ Yeovil Land Rover.
If it exists he will forage it out for you ?Only dead fish go with the Flow !

It may be on yours but they are not all the same I would guess yours doesn't have a glass roof.

They do list a blanking plate but it is for a D4 without the glass roof (labelled HP1 in the diagram )
Best bet is to get in touch with Nick (TLO) and he will be able to tell you but I can't help think how you are going to receive your DAB etcCheers Ian

Yeah, that was a big concern at first, but I don't need or want any of that stuff:
- Sat nav is in the rear taillight assembly, so would be unaffected
- Sat Radio / DAB - I am not a fan. The quality is terrible and very compressed. I also don't care to pay for a subscription. I have more than enough music already.
-TV - We don't get that in the US
- Telephone - I don't have a cradle and just connect my phone to the vehicle with bluetooth., which works fine.
