Is it just me? Gearbox whine |
|
Hi all the disco warranty runs out in April, is it just me or do the gearboxes whine a bit when under load? If they don't I need to get it sorted before April - any advice of ways for the layperson to ascertain if there is a gearbox problem? Cheers

A very common fault, much more spread in the 245 cv high output ones, (more than three cars tested, and all whining more or less). mine was revised for this reason several times last year, cured with dinamical TCC adjustment. To be fair, transfer was changed in the process because it brokes (yes, loud clonk when N to D, transfer broken, clonk every long red light, with less than 85.000 km...and total care to the car), so it couild be the transfer, but i reckon that when in previous occasions the dealer reste the tranny it gotted better. If you flat the accelerator to just before the gaerbox changes, staritng from very lows revs and as the revs go up, you hear sorts of whines.
Try to adjust the Torque comverter Clutch dinamically, not static. Mine with static didnt cure 100%
Mine didnt whine anything when new. Period. Whine was growing as miles got up.
