Light Bulbs
Hi All,
Newbie <celtictricky> here I have just purchased (Collecting in a week) an 2010 D4 XS in Bali Blue. I do not mind admitting I am rather excited about it.
Anyway - as the car does not have Xenons I wanted to enhance the lighting and change the bulbs for both main and side lights. Does anybody have any recommendations?
Having realised that its just not possible to get the Signature lights to work (God damn you HSE Drivers!), these seems like the best option.
Thanks
Rich

I had xenons in my old D3 , which were far better than std halogens.
However I haven't bothered with D4 as they are projector type jobbies and give out a much better beam pattern.
IMHO std D4 lights with Philips xtremes are very near to xenons Cheers Ian

Have you thought about trying to get hold of the Xenon headlight units.
Plenty of guys on here can activate the computer to accept them.Ian

As the D4 has projector lamp lenses anyway, I would simply add an aftermarket xenon conversion (bulbs and ballast's) to your existing light units and save few quid Altox GSM FBH controller thread

I always found Philips Xtreme very good.
Fitted Philips x-treme Vision +100% bulbs to my BM (too mean to pay for xenons) and big difference over the standard halogens. For £20 well worth it.

So it sounds like I spend on the x-treme Vision +100% and see how that pans out.
Listen chaps, thanks for your input much appreciated. If I did want to get hold of a new set of lights that actually have the signature lights in place (i.e. ready to be activated), any good sources?
Thanks again.

A well known Internet auction site just make sure the seller confirms xenon and the signature LEDs as some LEDs have the halogens.
Also google for discovery salvage. I'm sure you will find loads of discovery's that have had accident damage and the parts are being sold off. There are a few people who either 1 can't handle the power or 2 try racing hot hatches and it ends in tears. I previously had a D3 and was looking to change the whole outside to D4 look for the signature LEDs and rear lights and there were loads available.
Also try Nick @ Yeovil. On here he's TLO (The Large One). He is the parts man at LR Yeovil and does a forum price and it's all genuine LR.
I can't comment on how much better the bulbs listed here are compared to Xenons. My cars have all previously had Xenons bar the Audi and I'll never buy another car again without Xenons.Ian

Hi celtictricky.
I am thinking of doing the same to my 2010 D4 XS, for the dark winter nights. Can you tell me what bulbs you bought in the end and where from? any info would be appreciated!
Thanks a bundle!

Hi Marvin,
I still have not done anything about it tbh. The more I have driven it the more I have got used to it.
