EGR delete pros and cons: D4 SDV6
My independent has advised that they can “switch off” (for want of better description) the EGR. Legalities and emissions debate aside, what are the pros and cons of doing this? Is the expense worth it? More power? Cleaner intake system? Does the intake system last longer?2016 LR4 3.0 SDV6 HSE

I had it done on my 2007 D3 but I was under the impression that the D4 3ltr v6 can not be done , I’ll be watching in anticipation

My understanding is that it cannot be ‘deleted’ in the physical sense, however it can be reprogrammed to be permanently closed?
I also had a D3 which had the EGR blanked off. This had been done prior to me purchasing it, so I couldn’t compare before and after.2016 LR4 3.0 SDV6 HSE

Must confess I also thought it wasn’t possible if a dpf is fitted
Always like to learn new things so would be interesting if the egr blanking can have a detrimental effect on the dpf along with if it’s allowed plse , thks

Mine does have DPF, so I’d be interested to know if that’s a deal breaker, too?2016 LR4 3.0 SDV6 HSE

Let’s just keep this thread to the technical aspects of the delete, and have the legal implications discussed separately, as not everyone is subject to UK law?2016 LR4 3.0 SDV6 HSE

Nobody’s done this mod? Is it even possible, or does my LR service agent have their wires crossed?2016 LR4 3.0 SDV6 HSE

I have done this job on a UK spec 2016 D4 3.0. removed DPF, blanked EGR and removed Ad Blue. this was in South Africa. All Written out of the software. No issues afterwards

Thanks MikeBob. Currently I’m leaning towards leaving the DPF in place, although the garage did say they can knock the guts out of it and make it free flow.2016 LR4 3.0 SDV6 HSE

I have my 64 plate DPF and EGR's mapped out. DPF is gutted and EGR's blanked. Also removed the centre silencer. It goes much better and has a much better note from the exhaust. Wish I had done it long ago.

Yes I removed the DPF after it was mapped out and took out the innards. That way it still physically looks like its there for the UK MOT.
Same with the EGR, it's mapped out and blanked off so on inspection you cannot tell its been modified in any way and it still passes MOT. No smoke or smell from the car and it goes like a train. Best £300 I have spent on any car.

Ah, so EGR blanked off as well as ‘turned off? I wasn’t aware that was possible on the SDV6?2016 LR4 3.0 SDV6 HSE
