Can this be changed with the fan still on? Last one I did was on my old 300tdi which from memory was very simple but no doubt that won't be the case with the space available on this one.
Naively hoping it's a quick and easy job.

From memory (been a while), with both the fan cowl and the fan in place there is just no room to manoeuvre. It is a tight workspace even with those removed.

You can do it with the fan still on but it is a faff, is definitely easier with the fan off but it isn’t a must.

It’s worth getting the set that includes the folder to hold the pulley at the same time as rotating the viscous fan nut Must stop buying shiny toys....
