Access to spare tyre area |
|
Quick question!
I have the Aux tank fitted where the spare used to be. The fuel level sensor is playing up and it's dead ontop of the tank.
Is there a way of accessing down through the back of the car, ie by removing the third row of seats etc. Or is the body shell solid at that point.
It's just that I'm trying to avoid having to drop the tank out to get to the sensor.
TIA Have a nice day!

Looks pretty solid. If they removed the wheel winding mechanism when they put the tank in you may be able to get to it that way?
Too far to go to the mob who put the tank in? “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

The access point to the wheel winding mechanism (or rather where the WWM was) is too far to the rear of the sensor position.
The dudes who installed it were Off Road Equipment in Myaree in Perth. 720km one way.
I wouldn't go back. They left the car in a terrible state after the install: Grease on the seats; shavings all over the dash where they'd drilled the hole for the gauge; and didn't test the system. I had to insist that they showed me how it operated and also for my wheel winch, whcih they were trying to keep. Furthermore, they made derogatory comments about the Disco, coupled with inane laughter.
Wouldn't go back. Wouldn't ever recommend anyone to go to them for anything. Have a nice day!

Drop the tank yourself fix it and send them a bill for your time! “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Jamo,
I'm afraid there are no floor access holes in the back that I've ever seen below the carpet in the 3rd row seats.
How about checking with Long Ranger (if you haven't already) about a way to check/test before your drop the tank out.

Thanks Chris,
I've already been onto Long Range Automotive and they were quite good. They sent me a copy of the basic wiring diagram. They thought it could be the earth.
I checked the earth where they'd connecxted it to the car and it seemed fine. Furthermore they've attached the earth for the sender unit and the transfer pump together and then wired them onto the RH tailight earth. The transfer pump still works so I figure that the earth is OK. Unless the D3 is accepting the pump but rejecting the sender?
The local ARB dude told me to check the sender itself, which I need to drop the tank to get to. Have a nice day!
