HELP.. Battery dead and wont charge.
I have a 2005 LR3 and the battery light came on this morning whilst my misses was on her way to work.
I have Just come over as she tried to start it but it wouldn't start and a few error messages and lights came on.
I jump started it off my van and it started but all the Electrics were going funny and more errors came up when it was running, after 5 minutes the car died. I can keep jumping it but it has loads of errors etc on the dash and says limited gears hdc fault etc.
Waiting for the rac. To arrive but does anybody know what it could be. Battery or alternator?
car hasn't been driven properly since middle of January and I drove it from Essex to Waldorf last night without any of this..

OK. How much would I be looking at for a new alternator? How long should it take to replace. Need it asap.

About £240 for an alternator and about an hour to fit. New LR battery is about £230 (new gel style) or alternative aftermarket ones about £90-120ishBodsys Brake Bible

if you have no power, then make sure the aa man knows this....

Remember to give the battery a really good charge on a good charger (lots of votes for a Ctek on here). Don't rely on the new alternator to bring it back to normal.
