Hi all,
D3 completed 4500km as of today in 8 weeks. Very happy so far apart from annoying wipers which scrape across screen.
Has anyone rust proofed their D3? Do you think it's necessary for very occasional beach work??
Cheers TDV6 D3 HSE

Well rust proofing is a matter of how long will you keep the car for and for how long would you like not to have to pay attention to how your car is doing,
I had mine given the full waxoil treatment from new. Going back for a respray ever 2 years I can rest assured any rust problems within 10-15 years will be very minor.
Cheers

Rust Proofing.
I decided that my last 4WD would have an ERPS fitted to it.. but never got around to doing it.
Not sure abouth the disco though.
I intend only keeping it for the term of the lease, so probably not. But then, I only average 1 beach trip a year. When I come home it is lots and lots of fresh water. (Hard now in Brisbane with our restrictions) I now have a 3000 litre water tank and run the vehicle's front wheels up on 2 ramps. I then clean it out with my karcher cleaner. After that, I connect up my old Pope walking sprinkler and let it run from one end of the car to the other.
The only 4WD I had that rusted really badly was my LJ50 Suzuki about 30 years ago. Made from squashed jam tins... really light metal and boy did it rust.
Talk to ERPS on the Coast seeing as you're there. The seem like nice people.
Cheers

Hi Folks,
I have a bit of a dilemma - if I were to do this myself, it would take me too long to pull all the door skins off, wait for kind weather, etc. On the other hand, I am not sure I would trust the task to pull the door skins off to too many others!
From those that have done this - how long did it really take?
Thanks,
Rob

I had mine done with Electronic Rust Protection when the car was tinted when first purchased from Tint a Car.
The total cost with Tint was $860.00.
As long as you go back every year for them to check the machine and panels, they guarantee no rust or replacement of the damage panel, including rust from stone chips etc for 10 years.
