In which case I expect they were Britpart.
There are those who are happy with Britpart disks, but those who hold the opposite view. I would go with OEM, if necessary upgrading to V8 brakes.
There's lots here on the forum on these topics.

Discs will be fine, but we have lots of come backs with EBC pads... So much so, we will no longer supply nor fit them...
If your brakes start to either feel rubbish or you start loosing pedal when they get hot (brake fade) then change to LR OE pads and that should sort it...

EBC do several specs of pads to overcome brake fade, I've got yellow stuff which do not hold heat particularly well BUT are excellent from the first dab of the brakes,
Red stuff need heat in them react to the braking efforts required for fast road use.
As I Litrally drive like miss daisy I find EBC drilled and grooved disks with yellow stuff pads work well for me but I can't comment on other people's experience,
I have heard some horror stories regarding inferior brake disks though?
And like everything else you hear a hundred horror stories and one good one Only dead fish go with the Flow !

We are the exact opposite. Nothing but grief with Britpart discs, so much so we do not even stock them any more... My D3 Build Thread
