Central Locking sounds horn - how do I stop it?
Could anyone help me with this please
Everytime I lock the car, the horn sounds. I know this is normally because one of the door, boot or bonnett is open. However, all apear to be closed.
This has only started happening this morning since I opened the bonnet to top up the washer fluid. I have re-opended the bonnet a couple of time and reclosed but it is still "hootin" at me.
Any Advice appreciated
CheersDuncan

Most probably the sensor in the bonnet latch that's giving your D3 the Horn

I had this recently and Shukers have had a couple in for repair recently.
Service Manager asked me to try something out on mine to see if it cured it, if not he would order a batch in as it may start to become a common problem...
Anyway. He asked me to unclip and re-seat the connector. This failed to work. So I decided to try again and found that by holding the clip (so it won't catch) and inserting / removing a number of times it cured the problem.
I guess the metal gets corroded and by doing some connector 'sex' for a while cleans out the connector nicely.
Don't let the wife, children or neighbours see you though
Mine has been replaced now as it failed recently. Apparently its a common fault.
Even when the sensor was not working and the Message Centre reported Bonnet Open... the horn did not sound when locking up.
It may well be one of the door sensors.

Tell your dealer to get you some new sensors Chap the problem wont go away.
A quick fix is to pull the cable connector of the sensor and join the two cables together with a paper clip or similar PS don't forget to insulate the bodge...........infact no don't do it just call your dealer In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

have done that one before many years ago (not on the D3 mind) - I had a dodgy brake fluid level sensor in the reservoir - pulled the plug, shorted the terminals so the warning light went out and bunged it back in the socket Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)
