Manual Air Suspension pressure fixing for recovery

Hello,

I am one of the first to applause Air Suspension. Then one must admit that eventually there WILL be air suspension elements that will go wrong soon or later

again I am the first to says Air springs and compressors are parts that need maintenance and replacement just as the oil filter does. Most P38 Rangies have problems because Air suspension components are not treated as the should be.

I had, for example, to replace the Air compressor on my previous D2 TD5 SE Auto at 150 000 and on my previous D2 TD5 SE manual, I had to change air bags at 185 000km.

Therefore I wonder if I should ad a manual air intake for the Air suspension if the compressor would happened to feel dizzy on the Moroccan tracks.

I could have something like the following easily mad up and installed :

Does any you happen to have done the same thing ?

wished to ?

I know for facts that Belgian GEOLAND does it on the D3 he prepares for Raids

Also, if one would happen to have a spare Front spring and rear spring/shocks elements, would it be interesting to carry them around while travelling north Africa to replace them on site or is it already too much trouble ? ( I have access to a D3 that is broken for parts (roll over on soft ground)

All right your turn now

cheers

Air suspension coped admirably in Morrocco.... the air intake is behind the rear left light cluster - be careful of messing about with the air intake as the system also vents through it to purge the air drier...
If anything, you may need pipe repair splices if stones manage to puncture an airline, the airbags themselves are unlikely to get damaged

here is what Geoland does and what the system i would fit would loook like :

Again i will never go farther than Morroco/Mauritanie but there, one could be in trouble just because the compressor isn't working

just putting the best chances on my side. 8)

Ahhhhhh... got it Thumbs Up
Yep, looks like a very good standby system, although you would have to disable the air suspension system to prevent it venting during self - levelling

Yes, exactly that, the fuses are:
BJB
26 (20A)
3 (5A)
CJB
5 (5A)
you might want to take out relay 225 from the BJB as well, this supplies the compressor motor (and BJB fuse 3)
