D4 Steering Wheel Controls |
|
Hi All.
Have just picked up the new 2013 D4, but on the way home from the dealer, I noticed that I could not receive or cancel any phone calls from the steering wheel, and on further checking I also found that the mode control buttons also not working. I called the dealer, they informed me that this is a fault with all D4 in Australia. Is the true about the problem or have I been told a porkie, lol.

I can only speak from a 2011 model but the phone buttons and mode button works on that just fine, I've actually disabled the Call button on the steering wheel after too many accidental presses causing a last number redial.

My January MY13 had a fault, DG informed me that "there is a field action notice out on "low line" steering wheel control failure on 2013MY ..it's to do with a CCF configuration issue ...quote Q263 UPS 0313-2 or -3 "
Anyway, dealers sorted it- fixed D4 3.0 SDV6 GS 13
D4 3.0 SDV6 GS 09-13
D3 2.7 TDV6 GS 07-09

Did the dealer say there is a fix?
If they admit it is a fault they need to fix it. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

My D4 was a dealer demo model.
I had it for a weekend test drive a couple months ago, while I was deciding to buy or not. At the time of my test drive the steering wheel controls for the audio system & telephone didn't work. When I handed the car back to the dealer after the test drive, I spoke with the service manager about the non-functioning controls. He told me that was a known issue with some of the D4's & that a software update would solve the issue. He went on to say that they had to apply to Land Rover for this update on a vehicle by vehicle basis & that they hadn't done so at the time on this particular D4.
Spool forward in time & I'm now the proud owner of this very D4 demo model & when I took delivery last week, all the steering wheel controls work as they should do, due to this software update being applied.
So have a chat with your dealer about this & you should find there will be an easy fix

If you're asking me which dealer, I'm on the opposite side of the planet here in Ireland, so I'm not sure what relevance my dealer would be to your situation "Down Under"

Shh!
Don't tell my MY13 D4 that, as the steering controls work well, phone pairing works etc. But then perhaps Sydney gets a special delivery of D4 that the rest of Australia doesn't get... But then no mention of problems in AULRO either...

Hi Caver. Been away with work, but have sent you a PM.
Dealer informed me that they were waiting to here from Land Rover for the fix.
