Le Grande Tour de Europe

Well, some of it anyway. Has anyone spent around 3-4 months touring Europe with a caravan?

We are thinking of heading down the Left side of France, Spain, Portugal to Gib, then a route back up the right side of the Pyrenees, South of France into Italy, do a bit there then start back via Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Germany and eventually back to Blighty.

Setting off mid-April, probably stopping for 2,3,4 days each place to explore before moving on, but with no exact plan.

Any experiences or online resources appreciated.

Have a look at this blog. They have done a couple of long trips, best part of a year, round Europe.

Hi
We're off in a couple of weeks time - Portsmouth to Santander on the ferry - saves a couple of days driving and costs about the same. Heading into Portugal first for a few weeks on the C & CC rally at Lagos and then we'll move on into southern Spain and then make our way up the costas, after which we'll decide whether to go through France into Italy or up to Germany etc.

THe C&CC rallies are good for catching up with like minded people and great for the social nights etc, being alone in a foreign country sometimes takes it's toll. Without doubt the best item to take is an ACSI card, this allows discounted prices on thousands of campsites - well worth the £15 - and no booking needed just turn up.

I could go on forever but rather than bore the pants off everyone if you need any further info don't hesitate to pm me - Have a great time.

Would perhaps consider the west coast and central Spain? Ok, the Med coast of Spain has, we'll the Mediterranean, but I think that you would 'see' more of Spain going up the middle!

Have only seen the Atlantic side from the sea and it looks spectacular.

Whatever you do I am jealous!
