Towing electrics - 13pin or dual 7pin

I have just ordered my Disco 4 and specified a tow pack. I have chosen the 7 ping N & S connection for the tow electrics. I wanted to ask if i have done the right thing or should I change my order to the 13pin connection.

Look forward to your suggestions.

i had the 13 pin system fitted to my disco 3 and use a £7 converter plug until i upgrade the lead on trailer. New system works well and much better sealing to keep water etc out.

I like the solid fit of the 13 pin.. I've been having them fitted to the new work vans for a few years now and using adapters when needed. The seem to resist corrosion better than the 7 pin plugs.
I've not looked yet because my disco has the 7 pin, but how would the white aux plug on the tin tent fit the 13 pin. I've never seen a duel adaptor so I guess I'd have to wire them into one plug?
Narpy Grill, tinted windows, Smooth leather wheel (TLO Group buy), ACM fitted (thanks TLO), Rear door loom and Row 2 & 3 audio switch upgrade, RRS 20" wheel change, 285 Cooper LTZ's Sat Nav Mod (until I get a Faultmate upgrade), Front & Rear lamp guards. 4x4 screen now switched on - Woody32, Follow me home reverse lights - woody32, Auto release EPB - Woody32. Off Road Navigation - Woody32. Remap + EGR's switched off. Full chassis clean and Waxoyl.

My D4 has 13 pin and I have a 13 pin to 7 pin adaptor in the glove box, brought it at Billing for a couple of quid, its the way to go I believe.

If you have a caravan or trailer with a 12n and 12s go for that I did its a lot more common especially for simple trailers as they don't have the refinement of caravan electrics normally just 12s never had corrosion probs a squirt of wd 40 now and again does the trick. if I ever upgrade the van you can get the adapter to go from 12s and 12 n to 13pin so its good either way. Thumbs Up

Just having the same thoughts myself and have to make the decision this week. Thinking of going to 13 Pin and will replace my N&S plugs as I go. The connection on the 13 Pin seems much better.

Don't like the hole it leaves in the 12S position though - it could do with a blanking plate.
